The benefits of a therapeutic community for many troubled teens becomes evident quickly here as their behavior improves, or as they do better in school. Often it's both, as one encourages the other. But not always. Some teens are just good at hiding or minimizing their problems and the emotions behind them, despite being good students. Others are able to actively deal with their issues, but can't seem to tackle their studies. Dealing with the whole person is the job of our therapeutic environment, and especially the 12 Steps. The Steps are a way of life for students here, teaching them to be honest and self-accepting of who they are and in everything they do, helping them succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
