The impact of a therapeutic environment on the troubled teens we serve is often far-reaching. More than one student has graduated and gone on to college and graduate school to become a psychologist, counselor, or social worker. It's partly a reflection on the counseling they received here from therapists they came to rely on, admire, and ultimately emulate. It's also their own intellectual curiosity about the nature of addiction or an emotional disorder they've struggled with, and the need to better understand themselves and perhaps help others as they've been helped. Whatever it is that turns a sullen, resistent teen into a empathatic, caring professional, it's enormously gratifying to see.
