Part of our 12-Step foundation at The Family School is our emphasis on the value of work. When a student here was recently confronted by his peers for scamming on a work crew, it opened up a discussion of other situations where he's been lazy and dishonest. Was the discussion uncomfortable for him? Yes. But for him and for every other student here, learning to "come clean" is one of the most important lessons of the Family School experience.
We believe that healing starts with telling the truth. We also know that once students get honest, they get busy, and eventually find that a clear conscience makes hard work easy to tackle and enormously satisfying to complete.
