Helping troubled teens develop genuine respect for others, regardless of who they are or what they do, is part of the mission---and the challenge---of a therapeutic boarding school. Many students here are like the boy who was recently confronted for his rude and disrespectful behavior toward certain fellow students. Still hurting from abusive relationships in his past, he thinks nothing of hurting others when they frustrate him or make him angry. In fact, hurting them may be the only response he knows. Helping him explore alternatives---through anger management classes, talking with a counselor, or writing up a gratitude list to combat self-pity---are just some of the life-changing tools he's discovering and starting to use in this therapeutic environment.
