A sense of entitlement is not unusual in students at a therapeutic boarding school. In one case here, a particularly defiant newcomer refused to do his school work, insisting that high school was too hard for him and that he didn't need a diploma anyhow. "My parents have plenty of money, so I'll never have to work," he told a friend.
One of the goals of the school---stressed by our counselors, in Living Skills classes, and the 12-Step program itself---is to provide students with a realistic idea of how the world operates, and what we believe to be some of the real secrets to happiness: an education, a strong work ethic, unselfish behavior, and a deep sense of gratitude.
