We believe that gratitude is a key element to happiness, and it's one of the first things we try to cultivate in students. During a recent visit, an alumnus talked about how the school taught him to trust himself and others, to open up and talk about his problems, to look at his choices in life more realistically, to consider the consequences for himself and how those choices affect others. "I don't know exactly how I learned all that, but I'm grateful that I did." Then he added, "Oh, yeah. The 'attitude of gratitude.' That has helped me more than anything!"
