Rehearsals Underway for "The Imaginary Invalid"

Published: Tuesday, February 16, 2010 7:00 am

This year's annual spring play at The Family Foundation School is a three-act comedy by the French playwright Moliere. "The Imaginary Invalid," directed by Sid Parham with choreography by Tom Kovaleski, was first performed in 1673 and has proven as hilarious and entertaining to audiences today as it was then.

The play centers around Argan, a hypochrondriac whose obsession with being sick drives him to find a doctor to marry his daughter so that he can get free medical care. Argan's outspoken maid, Toinette, and his brother, Beralde, attempt to cure Argan's fixation on doctors. In doing so, they expose Argon's second wife, Beline, as a gold-digger, and are able to save his daughter, Angelique, from the marriage her father arranged, freeing her to marry her true love, Cleante.

The Family Players will perform the classic comedy on stage at The Family Foundation School on Friday, March 12, at 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
