Why We Don't Interview Your Son or Daughter

Unless your child is within 3 months of turning 18, we do not meet with him or her prior to enrollment. When it comes to a child’s educational placement, we feel the decision-making authority lies exclusively with the parents. Allowing an at-risk teen, who is not making good choices for himself, to make such a decision is, in our opinion, not appropriate. Teens simply have neither the judgment nor sufficient life experience to adequately evaluate what is needed today in order to succeed tomorrow. In fact, isn’t it precisely because of your child’s poor choices that you are seeking a residential/therapeutic program now? We are not so much interested in their choosing us as a school as we are in empowering you as parents to make this important decision.
