Physical Education

Physical Education

This class offers students instruction in team sports activities, including handball, soccer, flag football, basketball, lacrosse, Ultimate Frisbee and more. Students learn the motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities, along with safe, responsible behavior in physical activity settings. The class also teaches the skills and attitudes necessary for good sportsmanship, cooperation and encouragement, and an appreciation for the benefits of physical activity, including enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, social interaction, and lifelong health and fitness. The President's Challenge Physical Fitness Test is used to assess fitness scores.

Weight Training

This class examines weight training, training modes, program design and how weight training fits into a complete fitness program. Students learn how to design and maintain a weight training program and personal fitness plan, and are instructed in proper technique when performing weight training exercises. The class also teaches basic human anatomy, including primary muscles and bones, and the importance of muscular strength and endurance to overall health and fitness.
