This course provides students with the basic knowledge of how to live a healthy and sane life. Topics covered include personal hygiene, family relationships, human sexuality and sexual responsibility, drug and alcohol abuse, and related topics.
Home Economics
This course is designed to give students common sense information about how to behave in a socially acceptable manner, how to manage and maintain a household, how to prepare meals, and basic sewing skills. They also learn about nutrition and the four basic food groups, and about toxic household substances and pollution.

NY State Certification for Care of Mentally Ill and Mentally Retarded Persons
America joined The Family Foundation School staff in 2007 as a student advisor after working as a home care provider in Hancock, NY. She previously owned and operated a delicatessen in the Bronx, and continues to use her culinary skills as a cook at Christ of the Hills Retreat House in Starlight, PA. In addition to her popular cooking class at FFS, America has helped plan and organize special events at the school. Off campus she enjoys reading and traveling.
