The Joint Commission

Accredited by The Joint Commission

Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation's behavioral health care through voluntary accreditation.

Following an on-site survey of The Family Foundation School in October 2008, the Joint Commission found that FFS demonstrated compliance with its national standards for behavioral health care quality and safety, and granted the school the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval.

"In becoming accredited, The Family Foundation School was evaluated against a set of national standards by a Joint Commission team experienced in the delivery of behavioral health care services," said Mary Cesare-Murphy, Ph.D., executive director, Behavioral Health Care Accreditation Program, Joint Commission. "Achieving accreditation demonstrates the school's commitment to provide high and safe quality care."

Emmanuel ("Mike") Argiros, President and CEO of The Family Foundation School, said that accreditation shows that "we make a significant investment in quality on a day-to-day basis from the top down. We sought accreditation for our organization because we want to be the best and we view obtaining Joint Commission accreditation as another step toward excellence. In meeting these standards for behavioral health care and safety, our therapeutic program now receives the same recognition for excellence as our academic program."
